Objective: To install a 2 MW community wind turbine near Sherborne to meet the energy needs of 800-1000 households and bring a return to local investors and good causes.

Background:

Sherborne Wind Energy Project (SWEP) group meet regularly. Plans are for a 2 MW Wind Turbine on a hill just outside Sherborne, to produce around 25% of Sherborne’s electricity, community owned, with a % of the profits going to local projects. They have a prospective site, with a keen landowner, where they will need planning permission and will want to monitor wind speeds.
