Affordable and sustainable housing

Tuesday 16th May, 7.30pm - 9pm
Gillingham Town Hall.

An Open Evening hosted by Three Rivers Partnership

All Welcome  No entry charge

There is a pressing local need for more affordable homes. And with oil, gas and even water supplies a worry for the future, we also need to make homes more sustainable. This evening is a chance to learn about some possible answers, air your views, and discuss what can be done to meet these needs locally.

The three presenters are:

DEREK HARDY, North Dorset District Council's Housing Policy Manager will explain NDDC's plans for affordable housing, and the national policy and funding frameworks they have to work within.

ANDY LLOYD, Rural Housing Enabler for Dorset Community Action, will describe the benefits of the new affordable housing exception policy for villages and small towns, and will describe his work with the village of Buckland Newton in West Dorset to create affordable eco-houses using prefabricated straw panels.

ALAN HEEKS of the Threshold Centre, Gillingham, will explain cohousing, a new form of affordable, sustainable housing, and plans to bring this to this area.

The evening is free of charge, and both Three Rivers members and others are welcome. For any enquiries, please contact Susi Calder on 01747 821278
