Gillingham Bell Ringing

Friday April 21st 2006  5.30pm

St Mary the Virgin, Gillingham

The Queen's 80th birthday will be marked in Gillingham tower by a peal attempt.

"Eight very experienced visiting ringers, including the Salisbury Diocesan Guild, will be taking part and the standard should be high so do listen if you get the chance; if successful it will take a little over three hours. Although we hope that most people enjoy the sound of the bells, for the sake of the tower's neighbours, peals are not frequently rung in Gillingham - the last was for the Queen's 70th birthday."
